Hi

Has anyone had the bodycare treatment on their paintwork by BMW?

And if so, how good is it and is it worth the 300 pound extra on top of the car price?

This is discussed elsewhere IIRC, and the consensus was that it's a waste of money and the same kit can be bought online for £30.

It was agreed that it would be better to spend £300 on a decent detail with a good wax coat.
 
Long long ago when I was in the motor trade, we used to charge £150.00 for something called Diamond Shine. It was a spray on glaze type treatment that cost the dealership £70.00 for 25 litres and was applied in two minutes by some poorly paid valeter. It was 'guaranteed' for two years. Nobody ever came back to complain. If they had we would have just sprayed it again. Total waste of money, that made no difference whatsoever. A good detail or looking after it carefully yourself would yield far better results. However, I am sure BMW wouldnt mislead customers in the same way to get you to part with £300.00 :roll:
 
As above that £300 could by a lot of detailing kit and products you will get a better result and better protection
 
there was some treatment on our car when we bought it - were advised to top it up but didnt. Paint started to 'flake' off the front bumper from stone chips though :( since had the bumper resprayed and have no more unsightly paint holes since :o

Having said that we have had the diamondbrite treatment put on our Mazda2 and it does shine up real nice after a wash. You have to use the diamond brite shampoo and conserver though and it is guaranteed for life now. You also cannot take it through a car wash or use any traffic film remover that hand car washes use - not really an issue for me as I dont use them :)
 
I bought my Mazda 3 from new and the dealer applied Supagard for free to the paint.

Didn't perform as well as a decent wax but might prevent bird dropping etching for a little while.

As others have said I'd spend £100 on some decent car cleaning products or put it aside for a nice detail by a pro a year down the line.
 
It's called "Diamond Coat" over here. Same scam as well.
A friend's hubby in the autobody trade gave me two bottles of the stuff, worth about $10 I guess. I might put a coat onto my pickup truck if Im bored one day.
