My partner wants to replace the rear BMW logo on her coupe. It has a few cracks and chips in it. The one attached to the boot release. How are these removed? BMW are claiming it can't be removed and the whole lock mechanism needs to be replaced. I can't belive this so thought I'd ask here

Listed on RealOEM as an individual part so I don't see why you can't remove it. I could be wrong though as I don't have a coupe!

Not sure if this helps, but replaced mine on me zed (roadster) Quite easy on mine, just got to watch the paintwork. You just carefully prise it out with a flathead screwdriver, underneath the badge there are 2 lugs about 2 cm long positioned i think at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock.

Although, it might be different on a coupe. :idunno:

Have a look on you tube there are a few videos on how to take badges of, including one where you slip a piece of strapping tape under the padge and pull.

I know it sounds mad but lift it off with a tea spoon! The bowl shape won't damage your paint put a rag under the spoon aswell

Bit trickier on the coupé I think as its part of the boot opening mechanism. Try getting some fine fishing line down behind it and saw it off ?

Easy to do Si - after all, they're not as popular or common as our roadies :D

The roundel is used to open the boot on the coupé, so it sits in a slightly recessed holder.

Yeah, the badge is the same part, it's just set in a handle instead of straight onto the boot.
