Bluetooth Telephone and Sat Nav Directory

Sorry if this is a silly question, I've looked through three manuals (owners, telephone, sat nav) and searched for topics on this.

I have an 07 Coupe with Sat Nav and Bluetooth. When the phone is connected I can browse through the directory using the right knob on the control console but I cant see any other way to navigate through.

Is there a voice command or something on the multi-function wheel I can use to navigate?

Also where can I lower / increase the in call volume - once again the MFSW didnt seem to control that..

press and hold the speaker button the left on the mfsw... (looks like a mouth with sonic waves coming from it) will trigger the voice controls if you car has it - not all came with this.

Otherwise press the telephone button on the otherside (maybe it R/T) and then use the arrows on the same side to browse through it.
 
Thanks aquazi, I wanted voice control but unfortunately dont have it.

I will give the R/T button a go, it usually seems to return me to the previous menu though!

This doesn't apply to the OP, but just for the record, at least for the '06 version of voice command, the voice memory space is separate from the phone memory on the car. You can't access phone data from voice, nor voice data from phone.
 
right 100% confirmed that I do not have Voice Control and it definitely is an optional extra here on the E86.

Now does anyone know how to retro-fit it?

If it like the E46 then it just needs to be activated using something like nav coder I believe.

Are you certain? Can voice activation be used to call people from the button? I'm without nav and it's a right mess about scrolling through all my phone contacts on the tiny 1 line screen!
 
Can't confirm about activation, but voice command is initiated by holding the 'face' button down until it beeps. You have to store your contacts by voice, it does not access your phone's contacts. Once stored, you can call anyone in storage by the name you assigned. You can also call by dictating the number directly. You can get it to recite the names stored if you forget, it's rather tedious, but at least you can keep your eyes on the road.

IMO, best used only for speed dial sort of priority contacts. Not sure how many contacts it'll hold, certainly more than I can remember.
 
Voice control is activated by plugging a coding computer into the car and accessing the ULF module in INPA. All bluetooth (ULF) systems after a certain date include voice control - why it wasn't enabled as standard I don't know. Although funnily enough, new ULF modules come with voice control activated...
 
Interesting - thanks guys I was looking to try and find out which version of the ULF is programmable and what the cut off date was ..

My Bluetooth option is code S633A which I read may not be programmable by nav coder :cry:
 
OP, all you need to do is do a software update. Seeming that you have an 07 Z4 then most likely you can do this with a simple Software update. Because it's an 07 I would think It doesn't matter with date the ULF is is matters what ZB number (software part #)it is programmed with which makes the feature available. IT depends because I'm in the U.S. and you're car is an EU car. So I don't know if they switched physical units between 07 and 08. INPA cannot update the software it can only activate/deactivate features or do real-time stats. For this you can use Progman or WINKFP to update the software You can use NCS re-marry all the units after doing so.
 
Thanks for the reply achtunge85, thats very useful information. My cars production date was actually 2006/10/05 (5th Oct 2006). I will try and do some research on progman or WINKFP and NCS but may need some help :oops:

Unfortunately I feel I won't be able to help you, but please keep us posted. I think mine was build around the Sept/Oct 2006 mark too.
