Bluetooth stopped working - Fuse 49 blowing

Hi all

Had my 3.0 coupe just over 6 months, Bluetooth paired fine when I got it and had been working fine up until I went to use it today. I last used it about two weeks ago, and haven't needed to, until today.

I first noticed that the R/T and Speak buttons on the steering wheel weren't responding. Then I tried calling someone using my phone but the audio just went through my phone, and not the car speakers. So, I 'forgot' the Bluetooth pairing on my phone and tried to 're pair' the car and phone, but it seemed the button in the centre console was doing nothing. I tried about 10 times. However I could see when turning Bluetooth on on my phone that the cars Bluetooth was there. I couldn't connect to it as I had 'forgot' the pairing.

I then checked the fuses. The paper diagram by the fuse box showed 47 and 49 as the telephone fuses. Fuse 47 was fine. Fuse 49 had blown. I got a new 10A fuse, and replaced the blown one however it immediately blew again as soon as it touched the contacts.

The only thing I have done other than start the car and drive it daily for work is perform a throttle reset about a week ago. I performed a throttle reset when I first got the car, and it didn't cause this problem.

Anyone have any ideas? As fuse 49 is 'always on', should I be disconnecting the battery before putting a new one in?

Thanks in advance to anyone

Well, I took the car to a local specialist, MVT Poole. They diagnosed the pairing device in the centre cubby hole was causing the dead short. They ordered a new one and fitted it and the Bluetooth is working all good again. The old part was superseded with this slightly better looking version.
