Bluetooth solution for older Z4

Hi, my 2009 23i doesn’t have Bluetooth and with the stricter laws here in the UK over mobile phone use I wanted to find the best solution.

I think I’ve found it so I’m sharing it here in case it helps others but also in case anyone has a better solution (that doesn’t involve fitting an Android unit…)?

So my solution is the Echo Auto from Amazon, circa £30 on eBay and can stay in the centre console but I have routed mine to just behind the tunnel through the netting, it’s small enough to be virtually hidden there.

Alexa play…
Alexa navigate to
Alexa call…

All work great and the system connects via the aux port and takes power from the cig lighter/usb.

The audio is good, after some fiddling with the mix of levels between phone and the audio system and hasn’t got a hiss like the cheaper solution I found earlier.

Phone can stay in my pocket so I don’t get tempted to touch it during a journey or can go on the belling MagSafe Mount when it’s on sat nav duties.

Hi Jaykay,

I have the tune2air module connected to the aux and usb connector in the armrest. Works very well for audio playback.
Believe this route uses the optical connection to the headunit.

Thanks, I’ve seen them but as my car doesn’t have a screen it seems to be overkill at that price as it wouldn’t do any more than normal Bluetooth unless I’m missing something?
