Bluetooth, shaking wheel have I bought a binner...

Hi just bought a z4m but on some roads the wheel shakes, but on smooth road its fine is this usuall I have spoken to a few people and they say it will be the tyres is this correct.

I have done a few searches and it seams quite common the above issue.

Also the bluetooth will pair to my iphone conntacts will come up etc. But no sound is coming from the speakers and no one can hear me at the other end.
 
shame some owners are prepared to run & even worse sell on high performance cars with such obvious fault as wheelshake :x
did you not get the same on testdrive ?
could be a few things .
sticking brake caliper ,unbalanced wheels ,wrongly inflated tyres (doubtful) ,play in the front bushes/steering components .
i would phone the seller & mention the issue as i,m pretty sure he will know the problem & solution but CBA to sort it :thumbsdown:

How bad is the wheel shake?

Mine wobbles a bit at around 80mph, always has. I've had mine over 2 years, in that time i've had tracking done, new tyres, new disks/pads wheels balance a couple of times, bushes inspected (mot)- none of this because of the wheel wobble.... but it still wobbles a bit at 80ish on some roads

I dont even notice it now to be honest.
 
These cars are very sensitive to wheel wobble I have found and in some cases need to be dynamically balanced.
 
Its not clonking at the back could be the dreaded rear springs...................

Its just had its inspection II from ETA motor sports. The guy I bought it off said they said it was in great condition and nothing wrong with it and I've got the paper work to back it up. So maybe its just started??? Like I said the shake only starts when on rough roads nice smooth road no shake.

If there's no shake on a smooth road, there is nothing wrong with it

It has hydraulic (proper) power steering, so if the road is vibrating the wheels, this will be transferred to the steering wheel. It's supposed to do that!
 
As Mr Cat says the power steering seems to transmit a little shake on rougher road surfaces. I've noticed slight twitching at about the same speed on mine and it's been there through two sets of tyres and a 4 wheel alignment with no difference.
 
Check the track rod ends as well as the lollypops - mine's not a //M though since first having the lollypops done fixed about 80% of the wobbly steering, with the track rod ends 95% stable though these cars will never be happy on on undulating road the way their suspension is set

Anyone shed some light on bluetooth problem with no sound???
 
If you have voice phone control, this could be where the problem lies. The bluetooth audio in/out goes through this module when it exists. If voice control works, then I'm wrong. But how does one know if they have voice control and it doesn't work, or they don't have it in the first place? I don't even know where this module lies, so I'm not sure how to proceed further. So my post here is rather useless in of itself, but it's information. You never know when it may be useful once combined with something else. :idunno:
 
Eissshhh... (Which by the way is an expression in South Africa used when a problem has just stumped you.)

Had a similar problem in my previous z4mr. Try using another phone as a start to resolving the issue.

Also - download the manual for the bluetooth system - it's floating around - if you cannot find it - pm me and I'll go scrounge through my archives.

i had an elise and it was fine at low speed, but had wheel wobble above 50mph. turned out that the tyre company i tried out for the first time only balanced the wheels upto 50mph when i phoned them. needless to say, i never went back. i also had a ford racing puma that had wheel wobble, and that was caused by warped brake discs.... get the wheels rebalanced and tyres checked first up by a reputable place.
 
Another vote for getting the wheels re balanced as a first option,not expensive and likely to fix it.
