Bluetooth Party / Outdoor Speaker In Boot E86

Ok here's a question for you, if you have a basic sound system setup in your E86 Coupe and the sat nav for example, but you want to upgrade the sound without breaking the bank or installing complicated screens and head units and running cables everywhere......., has anybody thought about installing something like a Sony ULT Field 7 Bluetooth subwoofer speaker in the boot compartment for example and strap it down securely.

It's got all the speakers and all the sound and bass you would ever need as an upgrade however it would be coming from the back rather than from door speakers and the surrounding speakers.

In the case of some of the speakers in an e86 for example you only have the two small ones behind your headrest and two small ones down by your feet.

I'm thinking a speaker like this would project the sound quite well around the cabin as it is quite a small car and also if you angle the speaker correctly it could reflect off the glass and around the cabin quite effectively.

That way you preserve the interior you don't pull apart panels you are not ripping out head units and rewiring you are simply placing a loud state of the art Bluetooth party speaker (like a bass tube but self powered and contains all the speakers you'd ever need) in the boot and letting that take care of everything including phone calls.......

No cutting or modifying, keeps the car nice and stock looking, and it's removable.
🤷🏼‍♂️

Thoughts ?

I'm not so sure lol only because it's about 2ft behind you and a decent high quality speaker will have sub, midrange and tweeters all facing forward at your head, is designed for 180W Parties it could easily fill that cabin, no boot cover and a small cabin could work well.

But on the other hand....... it could sound dreadful stuck in the boot

Remove one of the 'behind the seats storage bins'. Then work out if there's enough room to fit an active sub in there. I have an old Alpine SWD 1600 in my daily (non z4) and it adds a nice bass sound to the standard speakers.

With the storage bin removed you can see a straight edge where you can cut the carpet section off and add some speaker grill mesh.

You can get power easily from the boot and tap into the speakers above the bins for audio.

Be ok in a tin top, but the proper convertible would mean it was hidden behind a bulkhead

I think I should maybe have clarified that's what I meant, in an e86 coupe 🤦🏼‍♂️

I'm not sure I'd want to fit something like that in the boot, I'd rather try to install something a bit more OE.

You’re better off just buying a hideaway subwoofer imo. Nice thing about these is they already come with an amp. These are typically meant to go under a seat but wouldn’t taken much effort to secure on backside rear shelf or laying flat on the trunk facing up.

Do they all have amps as standard then?

Is it just a case of upgrading the 4 speakers 2 tweeters and adding a sub?

I don't have the mega speaker setup I believe it's two by the foot well 2 tweeters in the doors and 2 little ones behind the seat head rest area

Most subwoofers do not come with amps because there’s endless combos of how one particular user may incorporate a subwoofer into their “system”. But for those looking for just a little extra low end, I provided what’s basically an all-in-one package above. Typically if you look at subs in general, they do not come packaged with an amp.

FWIW I’m not even sure how you’d incorporate that Sony speaker. Looks to be no different than a portable speaker like the ones JBL produces, albeit a larger version. I can’t see how playing your music through a portable speaker in the trunk would sound better. And keep in mind that would only work for aux/bluetooth sources. Radio would still come out of the factory speakers.
