Bluetooth module upgrade?

I have a 2006 3.0si with factory bluetooth module, and with every next phone I keep getting different problems with bluetooth compatibility
So I am wondering is it possible to swap bluetooth module for a newer one? eg. one from e90? would it be plug and play?

I think cj once mentioned that he retrofitted a newer type of BT module, but didn't give the details

would you Gents, be of any help on this topic?

Cheers,
McK

There are 13 variants of ULF module fitted to BMW using this type of module.

See attached vendor link: http://www.bimmernav.com/ulfchanges.html

I swapped mine from an early generation being a 2003 Zed to a later one to gain more functions, but in reality all bar the first gen should pair and work OK.

I very much doubt any other type of module would be compatible.

Frankly every type of phone from old Nokia's, Blackberry IPhone 4,5 & 6 all pair with no issues on mine and used to in an X5 (Iphone 4 and others) so the fault is likely the module or elsewhere rather than which generation it is.

EDIT -One thing I would do is clear out all the old pairing in the module and then repair the current phone. That solves many issues. Can't recall how but it's on the forum somewhere.

I'd be interested in this. In my coupe my old HTC one worked fine. I then upgraded to the HTC one M8 and now the connection won't hold. Very annoying to have hands free and not be able to use it.
