Blue wire hanging out in driver foot well?!

Went out to hoover the car today and it would appear a random blue wire with some sort of connector is hanging down in to my footwell. :|

It is coming from a cut out just in front of the courtesy light in the foot well. There are a number of other wires up there, but none are hanging down or loose. This certainly wasn't there yesterday. Any ideas what it is guys or where it connects back to? Or is it not connected and serves a purpose for an extra I don't have?

I have pics on my phone, I can't upload pictures on to here, but could email them to anyone who could help.

Wonder if anyone else thinks that? I don't have reversing sensors, so maybe it's the wiring in place for it, but they aren't in use?
 
I'd say it connects to the sounder and makes an horrible 'boing' noise while reversing. Often disconnected hence wire hanging down.

Not sure on how these cars were manufactured, but that could be a possibility. My first smart had the wires run for fog lights even though the ECU didn't support them.
 
Reversing siren it seems then?

Also, I don't have cruise control. So it could also be the wires in place for it not in use. I simply tucked it back up in place. Really couldn't see anything for it to connect to.
 
Nope - it's not cruise control. That's a short wire and connector at the top of the column.

I should have perhaps been clearer. It IS the reverse sounder.
 
Brilliant stuff, obviously just the currently unused wiring in place. You'd think there should be a cover over the space if it's unused :/

Exactly right - connected mine and it make that horrible reversing 'bong'..... :cry:
