Bloody squeaks and rattles!!!!!

I thought i would just get used to the squeaky nature of the z4, but its slowly driving me mad!

I have a very annoying squeak coming from the centre of the dash board, i think its the H-vac rubbing against the rear surface of the dash? Any one else had this problem and been able to solve it?

Also...cup holders rattling, any suggestions?

Cheers!

Hi Mark, as for the squeak from the centre of the dash, I had more of a bump/bang when driving. It's the bolts attaching the strut braces to the firewall under the bonnet. I torqued them up to 35 N m (think supposed to be 41 but erred on the side of caution) and it disapeared, 2 minute job providing you have a 16 mm socket and a torque wrench.

True, it definitely sounds like the strut braces in the engine bay.

As for the cupholders, try to dismantle them, check and tighten the screw at the back (so ofter forgotten by retrofitters), use some double-sided tape, and they should be all right.

I've got one behind the passenger seat headrest....so annoying, thought it was the wind deflector but it's not

I found it was the seat rubbing against the plastic trim on the bulkhead. Winding the seat forward a little cured it. It looked good but once you sat in the seat it was just enough to create contact

I will give the strut brace a go, however on removing the trim panel (under the dash, just infront of roof conrols) whilst driving i held the H-vac towards the dash and it stopped the squeak, so i think its rubbing between the H-vac unit and the dash. Maybe going to try putting some tape up there, but there's just no room to do this!
