Today I finally got rid of the run flats for new Continental Sport Contact 5's. Whilst in the garage a guy came in wanting a price for new RF but also asking about any second hand tyres. Just so happens same size as mine coming off so we did a deal saving £250 off the price of mine, and saved him a small fortune RESULT all round!!

Also opinions please. Now I have got rid of RF's what do about punctures? Can of gung and compressor or space saver E46 17" (I think). Also will RAC get you home if you can't fix by the side of the road?

Just don,t rely on this type http://www.amazon.co.uk/Holts-HT3YA-Tyreweld-Emergency-Puncture/dp/B000Y8WB8W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360794752&sr=8-1
Hopeless & barely work even with small compressor , wouldn't even sort my dad's wheelbarrow tyre :(

buy one of these from your windfall :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Continental-Tyre-Inflation-Compressor-Conti-Mobility-Kit-BRAND-NEW-/281064678676?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item4170c2a514&_uhb=1
the solution screws onto the compressor which then inflates & fills the tyre simultaneously to get you sorted

Taz - yes water based stuff so if a repair is required garage can quickly flush out the residue

Spacesaver for me - takes up a bit of space in the boot but not enough to stop our jaunts around the UK and Europe :)

has anyone tried the gunk that you put in the tires when you fit them ? - they are supposed to work well ?

Not recommended when I spoke to them.... the fluid can cause vibrations in low profile tyres (due to internal ribs)

I carry a couple of cans of gunk and a little air pump for shortish runs, but have just purchased a space saver for the longer trips.

Have you tried the mini compressor yet... the one I originally bought was pants when I tested it so bought a high powered Michelin one instead.

Never got round to trying it but these guys claim no interference from their product http://greenshit.co.uk/2.html
