What did I have for my birthday meal tonight. . .my choice

Prawn cocktail
Beef stroganoff
Knickerbocker glory

Smiled all the way through it - all family loved it too - especially when we all had to put together our own knickerbocker glories from the many choices on the table.
Might not be your choice but I loved it and had a wonderful time! Reminded me of times past - brilliant!

:driving:

Sounds good, glad you enjoyed it, that's the most important part. Simple pleasures sometimes. And happy birthday! :) . Hope there was choc sauce on the ice cream!

Happy Birthday :)
In the 60s we went to Filey on the east coast for our hols every year. A special treat was a Knickerbocker Glory at the Vinery Cafe, they cost about 1/- (5p). It's still there. Happy Days :)

In the 60's we went camping to Flamborough Head every year! My first Knickerbocker Glory was in an ice cream parlour at North Bay Scarborough and I've never forgot it! :D

Nice one bladeowner - small world - or is it? Likely many have similar memories from that time :)

Happy belated birthday ;)

I too was a Scarborough lad for holidays but Knickerbocker Glories were "too expensive" and so had to make do with a pink or lemon top from Jaconelli's opposite the lifeboat house in South Bay.
Happy memories indeed.

Happy Birthday for yesterday. Mostly disappointing that Carol our reminder system has failed

Mateus Rose - the height of sophisticated dining in the 70's and if you wanted to be really posh you could have black forest gateau! :D

Thanks all - one of the best birthday days I've had in a long while - simple pleasures indeed and I forgot to add that it started with Steph and I heading out for a birthday breakfast in the Zed to one of our favourite café runs.

Yep a great day! :D

Happy belated birthday Paul! Mateus Rose? nah mate....Blue Nun innit!

I liked the pink stuff - Blue Nun's white and only goes with chips. . . and fish!

Remember Clan Dew! wine and whisky mix . . . . We always had a whip round for some of that on a Friday night!

:driving:
