Bird crap stain removal

Made the mistake of parking under a tree yesterday and came back to find rather a lot of bird crap on the boot lid.

Got it off with care and warm water but it seems to have left a stain on the paintwork - almost like a shadow?

Any tips on what to use to get this off?
 
Does anyone have any recomendations on the best way and/or products to get it off the hood? None on there yet but it's a matter of time....

Nothing fancy but I've found the BMW roof cleaner works well with a soft brush and lots of water, it even moved some small but stubborn white/yellow mould spots that were there when I bought it :thumbsup:
 
With the hood I'd make sure it's been conditioned with a waterproofer within the last year, especially if it's kept outdoors. This will help reduce any damage acid in bird poo can do to colour. Always always wash/clean poo off hood or paint as soon as you see it! Never let it bake on in the sun. A good idea to always have some detailer or wipes in the boot to clean off paint.

A light polishing compound as suggested by Tom will remove etching on paint.
 
If you're going to use a harsh compound on the paint work then it will remove the etching no problem but be prepared for it to leave some scratches, you'll almost certainly need to polish again with a finer polish afterwards.

Should look fine when sorted though, a little etching isn't fatal to the finish :)
 
The below thread mentioned that water based paints were damaged when the bird poo dries in the sun, shrinks and microscopically distorts the surface, I speculated that heating the paint and gently buffing it should reverse the process? having experimented on the Ford which has some long term residual marks - guess what scalding recently boiled water on a soft cloth......... made no difference whatsoever :( But it shifts the hell out of dead bugs and resin with no products or effort needed at all. New coat of polish and the front looks dandy even if the poo marks are still there.

Yes ultimate compound is amazing literally disappears infront of your eyes but yes polish and wax afterward to protect it. The mags isn't anywhere near as abrasive as your etc so dont worry about it
