Bin the “satnav”but keep the dsp

Hi guys.
I know there are similiar threads on this but I cannot find a my answer i need.

I have the top hifi with dsp, sat nav, bluetooth and cdc. My plan is to keep the dsp amp and speakers and bin the sat nav and screen.
From what I understand I can swop a sat nav stereo for a business unit and still keep the dsp amp. I realise I will only have 3 DSP settings and no equalizer control but that’s fine by me.

I also plan on removing the stock screen and somehow fix a small tablet in its place (no tilt) This will have a sim slot to allow google maps, alexa music and hopefully link to the Bluetooth module and stereo Aux in.

My question is: has anyone done this and would a business unit need Coding?

A business unit won't need coding. I went the other way on my old car and retrofitted Nav and that didn't need coding either.

Whatever you do don't cut any of the Nav loom. If you remove I would reckon somebody would by it off you to retrofit, plus all the other Nav stuff as well.

Do you have the OEM sat nav currently that you’re getting rid of?

If you do, what’s your plan about the hole in the dash?

(Ps I have a black dash in excellent condition.lol )

I'm keeping stock unit just in case next owner wants it. Dash I'm keeping as I have fitting garmin drivesmart Alexa in there and linked to stereo.

I have two Z4 coupes - one with the standard amp, ... the other with the DSP amp (with various effects). Neither has sat nav. In my view, the sound quality of the analog amp (no DSP) is superior to the DSP amp. The latter necessarily introduces digital meddling of the source signal, and I think it is noticeable and not as clean and natural as the analog amp.

I was indeed at vanity, parked next to Lynchy and Stu boy.
