Bilstein list two front B6 shock absorbers with different references but the SAME description

Front B6 Sport Damper / Shock Absorber (22-104892) - cheaper one

Front B6 Sport Damper / Shock Absorber (35-124108) - more expensive one

http://bilstein.suspensiondirect.co.uk/BMW-Z4_E85-3.0.jsp

I can't see what the difference is, anyone enlighten me pls

Is one the short version designed for lowering springs? I've just bought the B12 which is B8 short shocks and eibach springs.

Thanks, supposedly you can run both std and lowered springs with the B6, for instance there is only the one type of B6 rear shock.

As for the front, two part types listed, exactly the same description EVERYWHERE....

One is a twin tube design and the other a mono tube, see

http://www.bilstein.de/en/technology/mono-twin-tube-technology/

As it happens fitted a pair of B8 to my son's car today due to a leak on the nearside damper ( like for like ) after less than 50k :|

He was told when ordering that the twin tube was no longer available for his car, 328ti.

They have a 2yr warranty, but at 50k I'd imagine they're past 2yrs.

The build quality is meant to be very good so I imagine its a rare failure.

So, if thats the case

- Mono design? - Front B6 Sport Damper / Shock Absorber (22-104892) - cheaper one

- Twin design? - Front B6 Sport Damper / Shock Absorber (35-124108) - more expensive one

Is that correct?

No the other way around, the mono tube design is the more expensive one.
Check the link you originally posted, at the bottom of each product there is a note ( notes: ) stating the design.
