Since I've bought my car I've had a stupid rumbling noise so got my mechanic to check bearings during week, he commented that tyres are feathered but bearings seemed fine
So basically pointing to tyres which are bct s800(cheap rubbish)

So has anybody got a spare set of rims I could try before I shell out on new tyres

Thanks Jon

Hi Jon, it was worth eliminating bearings but if your tyres are feathering this points to the suspension being out of alignment, fitting new tyres before having a four-wheel alignment check and reset will simply shred those as well. Trying another set without checking out suspension bushing and wheel alignment probably won't tell you anything much as feathered tyres may well rumble but you need to establish WHY they are feathering.
On the front the most likely cause is front lower control arm bushes (known as lollypops) front drop links or the counterparts on the rear - when they go saggy the suspension drops out of alignment and this will be the most likely cause. It's possible to do similar crashing through a pothole or kerbing as well.
If the suspension is OK it's worth checking for a disc pad dragging on - one dusty wheel, or disc getting much hotter than the others is a give-away, better still jack up and give the wheels a spin.

Thanks mate, had 4 wheel alignment done this morning, was out but now all as per BMW but noise still persists, checked reviews for tyres and there's stacks of complaints of excessive rumbling noise
Had new rear pads and discs fitted during week but still noise is there :-(
