Bicester Scramble

I booked a ticket for the Saturday in April because that would be my birthday!

So it looks like I might see Tony there but not Fred.

I believe they are not going to have specific areas for car clubs or groups so we will have to keep an eye out for the Zed’s.

Is it me, or has this event lost some sparkle.
I know the Covid facemasks bla bla bla will have an effect, but it's not the same. It's almost 'Sterile'
When it started as Flywheel, it had something for everyone, plane's, small race circuit, side shows with live music. Stalls selling everything etc..
Now you just wonder around looking at the vehicles and if you're lucky, someone might start their engine and rev it up.
I get the feeling that they are trying to push it upmarket, like Goodwood.
Or is it just me??

I went yesterday to my first Scramble, so I don't have any comparison.

Although I did go to the Flywheel event in 2017 and there was so much more going on with the car sprint, aero displays etc. But then I'm pretty sure the entry cost was much higher. Still it was worth it for a much more interesting day out.

The scramble was basically just a static display of cars, plus a few bikes but still a good day out after a year with so few events happening.

Spotted a fantastic M1.

And the XR2 that got sold at Matthewsons Auctions on Bangers and Cash! Lovely car, complete with twin Webers and a 4-branch exhaust manifold - probably a few other mods too given what it sold for!

I enjoyed Saturday. I took my daughter for her first time there . Having described it many times I was a little dissapointed with a lack of exhibits and workshops not open. We were lucky with excellent weather and I must admit the atmosphere did lack. Apparently there is talk of another scramble in October.
Anything is better than the nothing we’ve been dragged into.

I think I might have parked two rows behind mr Tidy if that was his car next to an E 85?

Probably not mine as I wasn't parked next to an E85 when I parked, or when I left!

I was on the front row, but I did spot another Silver Grey MC so maybe it was that one.

You're getting the events mixed up.

Flywheel was a separate event with additional entertainment, it was later replaced with Super Scramble which had a similar format.

Scramble (Sunday Scramble as it was) has always just been a gathering of cars.

Mixed up !! how dare you :poke: :P
My mind is crystal clear sir

I have to agree the was a loss of sparkle as quoted. Hopefully if restrictions get lifted there will be more exhibits open, more cars , more people.
