Best way to get USB input in my Z4?

Hi,

I have just bought myself a 2004 Z4 3.0i and loving it! Downside is the head unit, due to it being an older Z4 it doesn't even play mp3 cd's. I have the Business CD head unit (silver fascia), 10 speaker upgrade, 6 cd changer and the amp in the boot. I have seen I can make an aux in for my head unit no problems but I wanted to be able to play my mp3's from a usb stick. What is the best way around this and by having the amp does that complicate things at all?

If you want USB specifically then Dension kit is good. If you have Nav then Intravee works well with iPods
 
Hi, I went through this.

After research I went the same route as most of the guys here and installed an intraveeII and KCA420 iPOD system.. Seems to be a much better integrated system, assuming you have the satnav screen.

You can pick them up second hand, I also bought a cheap 30GB iPod classic from an ebay seller to put my music on. the whole kit sits in the boot behind the bulkhead carpet and a cable comes out to plug into the iPod which sit tucked behind the carpet in the boot.
 
I have an 03 3.0i with the business CD player. I installed a Dice MediaBridge and now I have USB, iPod and bluetooth (voice and music). I didn't have the CD changer though - I think that in order to install the MediaBridge you need to unhook your CD changer but I could be wrong.

I believe you can pick one up around $200. Installation is a bit time consuming to do it cleanly (everything hidden so it looks stock). I've been very happy with it. If you search for my username I made a thread explaining the functionality and some of the pros and cons.

I saw this on the Grom website, does that mean I need extra adaptors due to me having the amp in the boot? Also are Grom any good as I noticed they are a little cheaper than Dension & Dice.

I will get pics up in the newbie area at the weekend! Got cruise control to fit first!

So it puts you into the $200 range.

I don't have any experience with that product but that is how I read it.
 
I wanted more music options than my Business CD/6 CD changer so went with an i9200 Parrot kit. I'm very happy with the blutooth performance; plus you get USB/iPod/3.5mm jack inputs which are neatly tucked away in the glove box.

You also get a SD card socket on the 2.5" display so I have a 16GB card in there with all my music, playlists on there.
Apart from the small removeable screen you wouldn't know you had anything extra fitted.

As a bonus I use FreeNav on my iphone (in my pocket) and it streams directions to the parrot/speakers via bluetooth and even turns the music down/up automatically.
Excellent bit of kit and thoroughly recommended if you don't already have bluetooth in your car.
 
Just took my amp out and took a pic of the amp. Is this a Carver amp, if so what does that mean about required adaptors?
