Best time to sell

I'm thinking of selling my z as I will probably need a more family friendly car next year. Looking online prices seem to have dropped a bit recently, so is now a bad time to sell am I better waiting until next year or will that most likely just reduce the value even more? I know no one has a crystal ball but just wondered if there are any seasonal trends I should be aware of? It's a coupe so I don't think it suffers from the seasonality shifts of a roadster?

If now is the best time to sell I may do that as I don't use it for work and we do have another car anyway which we would have to share for a bit while I save for a replacement for the Z.

Probably the lowest moment in a year to sell a sports car as we just move to Winter.
.
That said if you need the cash then advertise at a fair price and see what happens, rather than a fire sale next year.

My WBAC price for my Z4 went from £20K to £15K in one week ... from Sept to Oct.

The car was returned to the dealer at that time due to issues with it ... and I got back what I paid in July - but they promptly put it up for £2K more than I had bought it for in the July. Go figure that one out !

I think now is a bad time ... getting rid of a convertible just as the nights draw in and the rain becomes more persistent is not going to be good £££ wise, even if the BMW dealer thinks they can get more for my old car than in July.

I think April onwards is better if you can wait ?

As I said it's coupe so not a convertible but I think I will wait until next year as it will be a hassle not having a second car and maybe prices will be a bit better in the 2nd qtr next year

It does though - these are toys to many, and winter + RWD sports car in any guise is not going to sell as well as it will in spring.

My comments were in relation to a coupe. For a roadster it's just more extreme a variations

This year, prices for coupés started to get aggressive around feb/ march time. I guess once people get over the shock of winter / financial shock of xmas they think about buying a new toy

Yep March-April is the time to sell toys like these.

Thinking about advertising my Coupe now based on this statement, but wonder if its still too early with cold days and lots of rain still.

Opinions please - should I now advertise it or wait a couple of weeks longer?

Give it a few more weeks and watch the weather. People will pay a little more, plus come out to see it, with a bigger desire in there heart, as soon as the sun comes out for a few solid days in a row.

Also possibly worth putting an advert up on here, before you stick it in AutoRag weekly. You should get some helpful feedback on pricing and you never know.

Good luck.

I haven't seen many coupes on the road recently and my wife and I always look out for them! I'd wait till the end of the month and keep a close eye on prices - I can't make out the market at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback I'll keep an eye on the weather befor placing an add

I do have the car advertised on here also http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=74013
