hello everyone!

I am undegoing a series of maitenances on my car this week and I thought it is time to replace the brake fluid. The question is, what would be the best brake fluid money can buy on my 03 2.5i? :) Are there any criterias similar to engine oil that have to be respected?

Thanks!!!

I'm shortly to be doing a brake fluid change so am interested in hearing the replies.

Searches of the forum suggested that standard stuff was fine for road use - and you only need to worry if you are tracking the car and need fluid that boils at a higher temp.

I'm getting some EBC BF-307 free with my pads/discs so probs just going to use that.

I was thinking about something for the normal road but providing the "extra" bite than the usual OEM BMW (Ate - I think...)... I have no idea regarding what is BMW approved of not... :)

The best 'money can buy' will not necessarily be the best for normal road use.
If the fluid is changed regularly and you stick to something meeting or exceeding the DOT4.1/5.1 standard then it'll perform on the road fine.

I know people who swear by Castrol SRF at £50/litre, but they've also spent £6k on 380mm 6-pot mono-block Alcons.
If you do decide to use silicone-based SRF then please make sure that you've completely flushed the system of the old fluid first as it doesn't mix well with the polyglycol stuff in normal DOT4.1/5.1.

What I meant was the best posssible for normal street use that is... :) Since this is the case, I might as well stick to OEM BMW . Right now I think I have DOT3 poured in by an indy, will make sure to get dot 4 or above :(
