Best iPhone solution? (Sorry if it's a repost)

Hi all,

Picking up my Z4 tomorrow, and I'm fairly certain that there isn't any iPhone/iPod connection in it. Now, I have always just had the ghetto solution in my other cars of 3.5 audio jack slung across the dash, but would much rather have something more elegant. I did a search and found a few posts, but a lot of them had dead links or weren't quite what I was looking for.

A simple solution would be the best connection for the existing stereo and have it pop out of a vent or something. My iPhone has all my music (through spotify) and is also my sat-nav, so I'm more than happy to have it on the dash and control the music through that, but I would love the audio to come out through a proper connector and not the headphone jack, and ideally charge the thing too, as it's a knacker after about 3 hours of sat nav and music when your phone dies and leaves you out of contact and not knowing the way!

I have seen people refer to a business stereo a few times...erm... how do I know if I have that one? :)

What are people's recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Is it just for music? AUX retrofit is easy and doesn't cost a lot? Or are you after Bluetooth connection etc?

I also use my iPhone for SatNav - Parrot MKi9200. Plays music (and phone) through Bluetooth or you can connect. Pretty happy with mine. Conversations on the phone can get a bit difficult above 60mph but that's more to do with the engine noise. I'd recommend.

I use a cheep eBay cable which charges and allow music through the proper connection

And have a Brodit mount with a pass through connection so everything can be left connected with the wires nicely hidden. I did think about a mediabridge but but haven't felt the need seeing as the phones withing easy reach.

Same cable I use to connect to the aux in and the USB power adapter in the lighter socket.
Cheap solution and works fine....using the dock connection is much better than using the headphone jack IMHO

Yeah I don't just want aux, I'd like a cable that will charge the phone and play the sound if I select "aux" I'd like it all behind the scenes, not hanging out the front of the faceplate. Thanks for the advice folks, I'll look into it.

Just picked up the z4 today! Happy times!

Check out 'connects2' for a cheap solution

Even cheaper if you buy the one I'm selling #coughcough

I'd recommend a dice mediabridge as well. It allows you to play music through your iPhone via bluetooth or USB. I bought an iPod to have in my car full time. It allows for control via the stock stereo too.
