Can anyone recommend a good glue/adhesive *that works* for sticking back on rubber doorseals to the door of their car? I bought some glue from B&Q (all purpose, said it was good for rubber seals on cardoors), but it it failed completely (applied it, and shut the door for a week before opening it and it fell right off on the first opening of the door! I assume the glue needs to be super super strong as the rubber seals are prone to forced in both directions (closing / opening). Tks

Just a thought and sorry if this is an insulting question...

Did you follow the instructions for the adhesive? Contact adhesives often have to be applied to both surfaces and then left for a period of time before you join the two objects together...

Try Sikoflex, they do a range of adhesives suitable for various uses. I use it for marine use and it comes in black, white and brown. I have used it and can highly recomend it.

I used to have an '84 Transam with T-Tops. The rubber seals for the doors/Ttops needed replacing. SO when I bough the seals I also bought the 'approved' glue.

The glue was fantastic, and if the instructions were followed it worked like a dream - however fitting the the rubber seals was a nightmare as it took 4 of us - just imagine wrestling with a 12 foot rubber snake, with joins and corener in every plane, and with the glue correctly applied to both surfaces, out stuck where it touched (and couldn't be removed without damaging the seal…….)

SO I would suggest getting onto one of the suppliers of the 'seals' and see what they recommend. I bought my stuff from Old Car World (OCW as the now call themselves and I assume that they are still going.

There are Hi temperature contact adhesives. A lot of the normal contacts don't like to much heat.
I used loads of the hi temp variety when I did my VW Transporter T5 day bus. Contact adhesives should do the trick I would have thought..

Spray into a jar and paint with small brush to avoid a mess
