I’ve recently changed to a new set of wheels leaving my 108s redundant. They were refurbed by BMW prior to delivery of my car and so have painted silver lips.

Having now got a new set of wheels on the car I am considering stripping redundant 108 outers and painting the inners a different colour. I have just refurbed a set of 108s with the use of Phil and Nerros guides must say they look the bollocks (it really is as easy as posted!) so I may have a crack with these spares but this time change the inner star colour Porsche style! 8)

Question is, and yes it will be car colour dependant, but what colour would you opt for and which colour would be the most desirable should I wish to sell them on!?

Am thinking either a glossy black or anthracite grey? That said, on a red car, red inners, on a blue car, blue inners!? So yes very much car colour dependant!

I think the colour of the wheel should match with the colour of the car. You wouldn't paint the wheels blue/red/yellow if your car is silver.

As said above, generally I belive you are correct Ksher. That said, Porsche do it! 8)

White cars can have wheels in any colours. But your silver cars better have either black or silver.

I think black makes the wheels look smaller, i depends on the car but i do like the idea of light grey centres that appear on some 911 carrerra's..

Thanks for the input all. 8)

Will settle on the anthracite colour as the bulk of people (myself included) believe it to be the best option. The gloss black idea is also a good one but perhaps too dark and West Coast.

Idea is to use black primer, sand down, colour in anthracite (3 coats), then lacquer (3 coats with sanding in between). Am also going to strip the outers and lacquer.

Will post pics and then decide whether to sell on the mint set I've just refurbed or this anthracite set.....

I'd say anthracite. My fronts when nicely dusted up in brake dust look like a half way between silver and anthracite and look kinda cool.

It will have to be a fairly light anthracite though imho. Black is just wrong.

I like the "dirty alloy" colour against a silver car too and have thought a nice light anthracite would be superb on my 108s. Sort of gunmetal-type colour that you see a lot of CSL alloys in.

Smoked chrome like these, or a very light and metallic anthracite can look really good, but I'm biased:

Had the camera out when I saw my buddies new Zed today, so any excuse to photo them togehter

Hmmm, thinking more, I'd just sell them on as they are, and put the dosh towards a nice ESS supercharger... brrmmmm!

Thanks for the input people. Know what you mean about the brake dust looking funky. Once or trice have cleaned the rim and left the inner just for kicks- looked shiv tho! :heat:

Anyway.....

This afternoon I had a moment of inspiration! Gunmetal anthracite they are! 8)
