Would really like to buy a good bridge camera but reading the various reviews is frazzling my brain. I would like a decent optical zoom but know nothing about what features I need to be looking at to be able to take half decent photos.... ..something i can use to 'point and shoot'...
Any advice appreciated thank you

Hi whilst not an expert, I would suggest not a bridge camera but a mirror less one. A good second hand one would provide much more useful and quality photos. I own a dale and whilst great will be moving to a mirrorless one in the near future. Smaller and therefore more likely to be carried when out. I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have the Sony Alpha A55 "translucent mirror" SLT, which I love. I think it's been superseded now, but the camera is fantastic. The fact that there is no mirror that needs to keep moving means continuous and FAST focusing, and burst shooting speeds of upto 10fps with full live view through either the viewfinder or screen. Image quality is exceptional, as is the HD video.

Grown to love the Sony range id have one of each if I could stick to one or cheaper hobbies ...

Thank you everyone...there's quite a range there and stuff I'd never heard of. Reading some of the literature on those they all talk about the image through the viewfinder and what you see is what you get to aid photo composition. Food for thought
