Best All Round Street Tires?

I just bought a 2003 Z4 2.5 with 17 inch wheels. It currently has Yokohama non-run flat tires and they need replacing. I know there is a ton of information on this forum regarding tires, but I can't seem to find the answer to a simple question;

Which tires are best for everyday street use?

I seem to read a lot of negative stuff about run flats.
I want a tire that handles good, is quiet and has reasonable mileage. Hopefully, 30,000 - 035,000 miles.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. :driving:

I have never seen anything mentioned that goes so far.

perhaps general grabbers :D

I will be interested to hear of any that last that well that manage to be quiet.

As the car is not a daily driver, mileage is not terribly important. But, would be nice.
Good handling for weekend fun in the twisties and quiet running are more important.

Dropinparts, welcome to the forum.... :thumbsup:

Excellent all around tire with excellent handling both dry and wet take a look at Continental ExtremeContact DW.
A bit more expensive but most consider it the very best is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

I bought Cooper 2XS tires for my M5. They weren't expensive at all. The rubber was hard and I was afraid that it would affect the grip and ride quality, but it really didn't. Due to this, the tires were supposed to last a whole lot longer than other tires, such as the softer Toyo Proxes T1R. I'm sure that this is true, but after one summer of driving the treads in the middle of the rear tires were starting to fade a whole lot more than they should have. I had driven about 5.000 km on them.

Turns out that the recommended tire pressure was way too high. Partly my fault, partly the fault of the garage that sold me the tires. I'd buy them again.

I just dropped by my local tire dealer. The owner of the store is a sports car enthusiast and he recommends the Michelin Primacy MXM4.
He told me it is quiet, handles great and has a 45,000 mile warranty. $864.00 USD including mounting, balancing, disposal fee and tax. Seems like the tire I should buy.
Anyone have any experience with the Primacy MXM4?

Since the the Primacy MXM4 is an all season tire I doubt that you will find anyone here that has experience with that tire since most of us run summer performance tire. A really good source for comparing tires is Tirerack.
