goes to..... me.....

for an hour today i fiddled and fought and cut myself to shreds screamed shouted swore while trying to get the vents out to remove radio so that i could install an aux input cord i bought from ebay.... ended up needing to reassemble the louvers becuase id pulled one out of place eventually got the radio out blood all over the place.... finally removed the rear connector popped out the changer connector installed the aux one threaded it for an hour through what i can only describe as a labyrinth to get it to the glove box again swearing shouting cutting myself on sharp pieces of plastic... eventually get it threaded through and test and by the grace of god it works... put everything back together and as i do i pop out the lower panel under the radio that you cannot see from the drivers seat....... only to see that there is a factory installed AUX input.......... :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

remove everything and put it all back wipe up the blood and go for a beer... happy that i have the factory option but what a ball ache!!!!

Rotta....

feel free to slap me at the next meet ;)

Omgosh that's so bad and funny in equal measure, have a beer or two as compensation

Please tell me you at least did a search on here to find out how to remove the vents and you just found it harder than described... :D

At least you have the B@lls to admit it on here

Well done anyway, gave me a chuckle thanks.

I'm not alone then!
I did the same just last week. However, I asked for 2m of lead so this one will be fitted around the storage area together with a dual usb socket. I'll tackle the job when it stops raining - in 2017!

hahaha as said above, well done for admitting it, at least your misfortune put a smile on some of our faces so was totally worth it

(never knew mine had aux for a few weeks until i saw a post on here with a photo so could have easily been me haha)

Oh dear! Those AUX ports are a bit hidden though. I spoke to the previous owner of my car and he told me that after nearly 4 years of ownership he only notice the AUX port 2 weeks before he sold it.

Funny, but I feel your pain.

For months (actually, now 12, so just over one year) I've been pissed off every time I drive the car, because having installed my cup holders, the little rubber cover for the screw does not go back on (top of the vent).

For the life of me could not work out why, must be some stooooopid BMW issue. Ordered loads of new ones, mashed them all trying to fit them.

Come Xmas time, back up North with the parents in their large garage with heating (rather than on the road, in the rain, in London) and I took it apart again. Looked at the screws in my hand and realised they were different... one has a small recess behind the head which holds the bloody cap in place!! Refitted, correct screws the right way around this time, and voila!!!!

That's a rough one lol. I almost ordered one but I found out on this forum that 07 came stock with the port. I ended up having to remove my radio anyways to replace the cracking dash panel. It was a pain because I was super careful not to break anything but it popped eventually. It's actually a decent design to hide it's mounting.

It would be interesting to see if there is a difference between the two ports. The stock one has quite a bit of noise so it might not be in vein.

Hello ..

Just saw the title (Re: bell end of the week award.....) and thought what have I done now ? it must have been awarded to me .. then I was re leaved totally another thread :)

But please don't all rush at once if you thoughts are on the contrary , again apologies for being off topic

Well your honesty helped me find my AUX for I'm eternally grateful. I'd like to offer myself up for the award as in 8 days of Zed ownership i have managed to curb the front end in Tesco's car park not once but now twice!!!! Lots of people turned as they heard the crunch! Both times! Damn that's a long bonnet! Not used to the length! (make your own comedy!!!)

ive had mine 3 months and have done the same twice you cant park it nose early in ownership lol the long nose means you cant tell where it is that and its quite low as standard, i always reverse her in now its a gut wrenching sickening crunch when it happens. good luck buddy.

glad youve found the aux!! well hows this one.... i assume you have a facelift if you have aux.... so ive this week found out that all facelifted roadsters have auto roof down on the key... hold the open button and the roof drops.

Rotta.
