Bedford Autodrome - Advice

Just found out last minute I'm getting a day out tomorrow at Bedford - Palmer Motorsport
Usual 911 JP3 M4 Caterram superlight and Clio cup racer.

Seems the rules on this event are no rev limit and instructors encouraging you to go to and beyond. All timed events, so bit competitive I guess.

Never done Bedford before so any tips or suggestions from the old hands, other than enjoy it :}
 
Ive been there 4 times, infact I was there courtesy of a software vendor last saturday (not cheap, i think it's £1200+ per head)

My fav is the Clio cup and the two seater JP - M3' are good also, but just don't feel raw enough

Yes, the instructors will push you to and beyond your limit. If I can offer any advice don't eat too much of the breakfast and lunch, also hope for no rain for the caterhams!

PS you get a breakdown of your fast lap in each car, also awards are presented for the fastest drivers so good luck - oh share your onboard video footage so we can see the fear in your eyes on the formula jaguar :)

That's the sort of event. Corporate sponsored. I'm just lucky as I happen to be in the UK and free.

Def won't be over eating. Done enough in Jeeps to not want to do that :thumbsup:

Clio and Cateram are the ones exciting me most as they should be more track focused.
 
Its a very quick track. Enjoy :thumbsup:

PS dont even think you'll have time to get to know the track. By the end of the day you'll have some idea of each corner and how to tackle it.

I've been the recipient and sponsor of a few days there. Great (if expensive) fun. The instructors will push you beyond what you think you're capable of, but not to insanity. If you stuff a car it's expensive for them. Trust in the instructor, and look through the corners at the cones at the far end of a corner. You'll get it quickly and won't believe how fast you can go.

Best advice, Beds Police like to lurk around the circuit towards the end of the day. They can fill their quota of speeding tickets within an hour, so take it easy when you come out!

Also, if you are staying up there, there is a lovely B&B in an old farm owned by the parents of one of the girls who works there. Just don't do what my intern did and park a nearly new 5 series in their pond... (Yes I have pics) http://www.northendbarns.co.uk/
