Just wondering out loud if anybody has bought / used one of these.

Bit rash but I just clicked the "here's my cash, send me one right away" button.
After years of owning old range rovers I feel kind of naked not being able to dive into the electronics and see whats going on

I've got an OBD2 reader but it was a fraction of the price. Jolly handy though.

Tertius - what kind of program you are using?

Honestly I can't remember, it's a simple handheld unit that plugs into the OBD port. I just looked online for a compatible OBD reader that included air bag reset capability and bought not quite the cheapest.

It does have a USB port so you can connect it to a PC but I have never had the need.

well I shall be playing with this thing at the weekend and will post something ......

I have an airbag warning light on ....... it came on whilst I was driving through the mountains in Norway last month when it was minus 23 degs C ....... Im thinking it could be a front bumper sensor, or could even just need re-setting.

Its another toy to play with anyway.

This kit apparantly has all its own software .... so Im hoping its easy peasy.

Hahahahahaha I was under the impression that there was an impact sensor at the front of the car ...... I've been wrong before .... Am I talking shite again :evil:

I have the version that can be used on up to 3 BMWs, cost me US$287 (£188). Have so far used it to reset a number of codes, calibrate my steering angle sensor, register a new battery on my son's 135i and record various sensor and ECU parameters. Works as advertised. interface is moderately clunky (10 year old Windows sort of feel), has some graphing capability for parameters and an export to CSV of collected data logging info.

Overall, good for BMW maintenance, troubleshooting and data logging.

Well my flipping' airbag light came on again no problem I thought, probably that seat belt tensioner connector again, will just check it and sort it out, but no, another flipping' problem "Battery Safety Terminal" this time, which a quick google suggests is £100 or so to fix ... :headbang:

I do think these cars are just a bit too bl**by complicated sometimes ... I'm really not convinced this "blowing" half the terminals off the battery in an accident is truly necessary ...

well that was easy ...........
just plugged into the car and job done.
My airbag light was a low battery voltage thing
sorted.

Well the story continues .....

Decided to change the battery, I mean how hard could it be ....
thats when I discovered the explosive disconnect system and errrrrr
batteries that require errrrrr hydrogen recycling ......what ???

Anyway, by the time it was all back together and sorted, I had a new error code to deal with ..... Battery safety terminal error .....
and no matter how many times I re-set it..... there it was.

Some serious googling and I discovered that the contacts in the disconnect system can corrode a bit, causing an airbag error light .

Simples, twist the cable a few times to rub the contacts together, re-set the fault .... done.

The Bavarian thingy was pricey, but does exactly what it says on the box.
