Ok so after taking the car to the BMW Specialist in Huddersfield it turns out that the terrible creaking from behind the passenger seat could have been a exhaust nut? The creaking has certainly stopped at least! I still however have a knocking sound coming from the front. At first I thought this was an anti-roll bar or a track rod end but after the chaps have taken a look they have confirmed that the suspension is completely fine and they cannot find anything wrong in that sense, they have no idea where the front knocking is coming from, however it does sound like something knocking on the bonnet. I have checked the strut brace and this is fine so I’m stuck there.
The last thing that concerns me is a tapping that has started from underneath car, more prominent from the passenger side. If you stand over the engine it’s not that obvious but from underneath it’s very clear and gets faster with the engine speed. This is defiantly something that has come in the last few weeks and it’s very noticeable for me hearing the car every day you get to know what’s normal. Are there any suggestions on this? Is it worth having the valve clearance checked?
