bavarian autosport acrylic windscreen

I searched for this item on the forum, but found nothing.

Has anyone installed this wind deflector from Bavarian Autoport?

It's part number 01D0031 on their website, and sells for $244 with free shipping and no tax.

I don't like the look of the over-the-hoops fabric windscreen, nor do I like the velcro strap-on plexiglass versions. I want a clean install similar to the one pictured on the Bavarian website.

It costs $519, and the website notes it is a "wind-defying net." I don't want a cloth-type deflector, and see no reason to pay more than twice the price of the Bavarian Autosport model. I need to read a testimonial for one or the other from someone using that model. Is there another one you are referring to?

As you are in the US you might want to check out Roadster Solutions as an alternative supplier.

Yes that's the one comes with clips so you can store it in the boot lid when not required.

Didn't BMW run a load of simulations and find a mesh wind deflector was significantly more effective than a solid one?

I have the OEM mesh one, no complaints, and the boot storage clips are a god send

I hadn't heard about those tests. Where can I find out more about that? I'm gathering as much info as possible before making a purchase. I only need something for the top-down winter days, and to keep the missus happy. Solo summer driving is all about maximum wind flow in the cabin.

I've used one since 2004. I had used the BMW mesh ones on a Z3M and on my Z4 and thought they worked well enough but looked like hell. They also tended to seem to block too much light under certain circumstances.
