Battery Tender

Hi all, new to the forum, just picked up my 07 Z4 tonight. Only had 9900 miles!

Was wondering if I can use a regular battery tender for the winter, or does the type of battery it has need a "special" BMW tender? The salesman said something about it, not sure if there is an ounce of truth or not.

I don't think a "special" charger is required, but a "Battery Tender Plus" is a good choice, and can be had for just over $40 - Amazon.

Hi and welcome to the Forum - let's have some pictures of your Zed. I use an off the shelf charger and not the BMW one and no problems.

Hi and welcome, get yourself a CTEK, they seem to be the most popular make. I have an XS800 which is great for keeping the battery in tip top condition.

Welcome to the forum.
You'll be golden. As long as you get a tender that monitors the battery and adjusts it's charging output. Sold bunches of them while working at a motorcycle shop in South Dakota. They only cost about $40 USD.

Cheers

Someone has to do it, newbie with no pics?

Welcome to the forum

Mine is always connected to a CTEK XS3600 since I lost a battery to the sulphate gods..!! Works perfectly for me.

Nice car! That mileage is great; my '07 was at around 29000 miles when I picked it up in May 2010. IMO, the 108-style wheels are the best looking. Welcome to the group!

Nice Jeep too. Can't imagine there is a lot of off roading in Maryland though. I suppose one could go to DC and stack up the politicians into a big pile put the Jeep in low range have a bit of fun!

Cheers

There's plenty of off-roading a couple hours North of here in Pennsylvania.

I don't go to D.C.......ever, I plug my ears when politics get discussed anymore.

Love that Dark Blue, I'd take that over the black any day. Only thing I really regret, is that it isn't a coupe, but those are rare over here. Love the Auto with the paddle shifters, I was always one of those people that wouldn't drive it if it weren't a manual, but I guess I'm getting older and lazier.

Actually, I think I like the wheels on the White Z4 in the second post in this thread- maybe one day when I need new tires, I'll shoot for those.
