just picked up my first bmw a few weeks ago (2003 30K) i've been driving the crap out of it. love it love it love it. in fact i want to go drive it right now =P
few questions though: a few days ago the battery fluid light came on in the morning when i first turn on the car for about one minute and then turned off. it's been happening every morning since then... any ideas of what could this be?
also the first gear is really hard, I mean REALLY hard, is that normal?

Did you buy it from a BMW dealership? Have you test driven it before buying it? It would seem to me that you would have picked up the hard first gear immediately. I'm no expert but it does not seem right to me. As for the battery fluid, it looks like you will have to replace the battery. 5 years seems like the normal lifetime for a battery. Have your car checked by a reputable BMW-approved shop or at a reputable BMW dealership.
