Battery clamp problem

My battery went a bit flat today, 10 volts and only 25 amps. It did accept a recharge but the amps dropped quite quickly so a new battery was ordered. However, when it came to removing the clamp, the long bolt would not turn. Managed to turn it enough to squirt some plus gas and left it to soak. Did not work and the pesky bolt fractured. A few curses and then an email to Enuf Zed inquiring about a whole new battery box. Luckily he has been there before and told me just to cut out the captive screw and Araldite in a new nut. Flushed with this information I got some M6 connector nuts from Toolstation, and a used bolt from eBay so hope to fit it up soon.

One tip for you Ray. Screw the bolt into the new nut before you araldite it in, but coat the thread with grease first.
This should prevent any araldite blocking up the threads.

Thanks Martin. My ears are still buzzing! Swapped over the new battery but as I took the terminals off the old one the alarm went off. Swapped in the new battery with indecent haste thinking that would solve the problem. But no, the neighbors came out to see what was going on. In a panic, I started the car up thinking that would solve it but it was still going off. Eventually, I locked and unlocked it and the alarm went off. Just hoping the "grenade" doesn't go off again tonight!
