Battery amperage E89 23i

Hello,

I currently have a BMW 70 Ah battery. I plan to replace it with a Varta with 80 Ah amperage.

If I change the amperage, is it necessary to do more than a classic registration of a new battery (with bimmerlink)?

I currently have the heated steering wheel, heated seats and professional sound system as options. I think 70ah is a bit of a stretch.

Yes you need to recode to the 80ah so that the car knows how much to charge it.

The logic of which cars were fitted with 70ah or 80ah defeated me..no correlation that I could follow ..mine with 677 amp, heated wheel, 35is DCT etc..70ah..

Remember to code AND register

80ah might be stop start.
When i inquired about adding to my car Servotronic software the customer service guy said i would need uprated alternator and 80ahr battery.

I'll stick with a 70 Ah (Varta A7). In that case, can you confirm that I just need to register the battery with Bimmerlink? Isn't there any coding involved?

You just need to register it so that the car knows a new battery has been fitted and to charge it accordingly.

On some forums, some people advise you to unplug the old battery, wait 30 minutes to reset it and plug in the new one. What do you think?

Old wives tales..applicable to some issues but not in this case…
