Barn find

Ok. I've found an e85 2.5se that has been stored for 10 years with 31000 miles. It is black with black leather heated seats and 18 inch 108 alloys that are near mint.
Q1. What other than fluids and new tyres could be common issues being stored for so long
Q2. What would be the value now and...
Q3. Once brought up to speed what could it be worth

Thanks

Lucky you!
Q1. Various modules may not like being sat unpowered for so long. Corrosion: brake lines etc. Corrosion: internal engine waterways. Brakes siezed. Roof motor dead.
Q2/3. Don't get too excited. Possibly £5k. But who knows what you'll have to spend.

Look on it as a nice car to save and if you break even you've saved another one.

Depends if it's stayed warm and dry or not. New battery. Good check for rust. If it has rust chances are the electrics got wet too. How that could effect things is any ones guess. If it's stayed warm and dry then you could have a little gem after some TLC.

The fuel will be off so a purge of the fuel system may be required. Injectors may very well be gummed up and need replacing along with all the other associated components. The clutch plate will be stuck to the flywheel, and can sometimes free itself but you will have to put in a few hours of work to get the car running.

£5k value at best

It depends on the barn if the mice have made it home or it’s damp
Then electronics, there are lots purge the fuel if it starts maybe it’s a good project.

I'd be asking why it was taken off the road in the first place :scratchhead: . I have a client with a MK1 TT convertible (70k on the clock) thats been sitting in a garage for 5 years without moving or being started, it's a 2000 car that they bought when it was 6 months old. My mate (the mechanic) went and checked it over, got it running from jump pack but only ran it for less than a minute. Going to get it down to his garage, replace all the fluids, belts pads/discs etc. If I had the spare room for it...

That's a good point. Shove the registration into the MoT checker. Without more details, it could be a 20 year old car that got laid up after a hard 10 years.
