Bad news but then good news!

Had the Z out for a run on the M4 from Cardiff to Swansea on Monday. Came upon some road works so stuck the cruise on 40. :(

End of road works, so I opened her up to pass all the cars I had originally passed before the road works, who kept their foot on it through the works. :D

2 or 3 miles down the road, came upon new average speed cameras which I only realised at the last minute and had to put the anchors on sharpish. :(

Then all of a sudden, had the blues and twos directly in the rear view mirror. :( Crap.

Pulled over onto the hard shoulder behind the unmarked Audi A3 and a female officer hopped out. Expecting the worst, she proceeded to aplogise for pulling me over but said I was going a bit fast and need to put lighter shoes on! During the course of the lecture, I tell no lie but she said 2 or 3 times 'ooh it's a nice car' or words to that effect. Now I don't hear those words everyday so that really made my day! Even now as I remember it, I still can't quite believe what I heard.

I've posted this before:

I got pulled over a about 18 years ago after overtaking a police car on a dual carriage way, I was doing 70+ in a 40mph zone whilst arguing with the GF (current Mrs Hutch). 23 years old in a Mk3 Cavalier SRi, usually driven with front fogs on, so hot target.

Anyway flew past it as I hadn't seen it being distracted by the argument, looked in my rear view mirror, SHITE! what have I over taken, GF looks, "A Police Car" she says, one with lights and stripes. Anyway I back off (no braking) and continue for half a mile or so to the next roundabout. Round the roundabout and off the other side. This is when the blue lights come on, so I pull over straight away.

Copper get out and comes over, his first words were "Do you need to wear glasses or do we need bigger stripes". He asked me how fast was I going to which I said 70 (no point in trying to lie). He proceeded to give me a lecture then let me go, suggesting I take my GF out for a meal as it would be cheaper than the £60 fine he could have given me.
