I drive a lot of cars, and I was lent an Alto as a courtesy car for a day while my own car was in the garage. It was a horrible experience.
The spec on the Alto is almost non-existent, no electric anything, no power steering, not even a radio/cassette! Inside, the car looks only half-finished. And outside it's almost as bad, very boxy and offering a small choice of sickly non-metallic colours. (Check out the 'yellow', which looks like 3 day old school custard).
The ride is the worst, though. First you have to contend with what is a huge gearstick for such a tiny car, and finding third is like something from the Krypton Factor. Also, it's very noisy, can't handle corners, so bumpy it's painful on the spine, and 0-30 takes an age.
The only recommendations for this car are its cheapness to buy and run, and this is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. Suzuki - who I like very much for their well-priced and fun range - do themselves no favours by keeping manufacturing this tin can.
