I've tried a search on here and couldn't find anything related. My rear windscreen doesnt de-mist anymore!

It was become tempermental at times and now it doesnt work at all - any ideas? Blow fuse or something?

Thanks,
Max

Check all the lines are intact on the rear windscreen etc, even a scratch through the line can knock the circuit out. I remember this issue on a Honda when I started driving, although this advice is probably well out of date by now....

my info is probably as out dated as Adamski,'s, but you could but used to be able to buy a solder/paint solution to repair any broken lines

the elements could get damaged if things in the boot scratch them, but i though these days the elements were within the glass, i could be wrong there though

i just checked, the element is on the surface of the glass, so its either the fuse or a scratch within the element

A fuse would not give an intermittent problem. It either passes electricity or it doesn't. However a loose fuse could cause an intermittent problem. I would suggest checking that the fuse is seated properly and then I would look near the rear window where the movement of the top might loosen or dislocate a connection.

A wild guess here. I had a problem with my trunk opening and closing using the remote and the brake lights not working. I found out that the wires going from the main body to the trunk were breaking due to opening and closing the trunk. I spliced them back together and solved my trunk problem. I know, this has nothing to do with the defogger, but it doesn't hurt to check them out.

Thanks for your replies people - random one, but it worked again after driving back from work tonight... it must be a loose fuse or something.

Where is the fuse box on the Z4 and which fuse is it?

its behind the compartment tray in the glovebox, bit fiddly to remove the first time so try it in daylight. you have to push two hard to find tabs in and the tray slides out.

once you open the fuse box cover it has a guide to which fuse number it it just need a small fuse puller/remover as they are tightly packed in.
