Sailing from the Tyne on the 18th and drive to Arnhem on the 19th and leave on the 22nd onto Montabaur
We've done the same sort of route for a few years but it works for us - we have gone over to Italy at times and will probably do so again.

The novelty of high speed blasts had worn off now, perhaps I'm getting old  but it's nice to be able to cruise along at a comfortable 100mph with the top down - that's a nice speed that suits me !

Yes, unless you have a destination one way as I do there is little point going fast, it's supposed to be a cruise and a holiday! But the occasional blast is good fun to see what the car is capable of and doing so legally :)

Top journey, me and the missus are taking the Z4 to the continent and south to Spain next year. Looking forward to AirBnB stops along the way. Need to pick up some bimmer-specific luggage for the boot so the roof can come down

You wont be disappointed and when / if you sell the car you'll get most of your money back!

I'll also look into these. Thanks! Hopefully they do E89 :)

They certainly do - I've got them
They hold good money if you ever sell and really do make full use of the limited space - there's enough space to stow a couple of light coats over the bags if you don't over stuff them.

Bilbao Toulouse is a drive out , I do Dordogne to San Sebastián in just under 5 hours , so I'll take a guess at 7ish hours ?

418km from the port to my destination ! (Castelegrat)
I'm going to have to do some homework to find the most stress free method of travel from the uk.

I was just going off the roads i take and I'm 1 and half hours or so from Toulouse , 418km should be no more than 5 hours Shirley :D

Castelegrat is 90km NNW of Toulouse

If it's a mostly overland trip it will mean an overnight stay on the south coast then a half way stop in France.
