Back box delete -Bristol/Southwest

Hi team.
I’ve been thinking about doing this and flip-flopping quite a lot recently. I’ve bitten the bullet and booked it into a garage to be done towards the end of May but I’m still not 100% certain I want to do it! I’m aware that it will drone a lot on the motorway, but as this is purely a third car/garage queen/fun toy I think I can handle that. If anything I’m worried that it will be too loud and I’ll sound like some chavved up Corsa driven by an 18-year-old.

Has anyone got an e85 in the south-west with this done? Perhaps I need some firsthand experience to convince me either way, YouTube isn’t quite cutting in the mustard….

I've heard a 3.0Si with a back-box delete and it was louder than I would have been able to tolerate for any length of time, and I like a bit of exhaust noise!

Strangely the owner later had two extra tail-pipes fitted and that toned it down quite a bit.

Its loud, but not horrible - I drove a backbox delete car recently and enjoyed it. Wouldn't want to listen to that every day/annoy my neighbours too often, but for a 3rd car/spirited drive queen its fine. Plenty of vids on the YT by the dude named Joel who did this and its fine. If you're not driving it daily for 50+ miles and you really want to hear the engine, do it, it is cheap and reversible
I went with a mid-box delete because I'm an old fart and my Staintune exhaust days are long gone

(what engine are we talking?)

It will sound like a bazzed up shed unless you drive around with a whisper of throttle, anything harder and it will be too loud and generally annoy everyone else around you. A happy medium would be one of the mid section removals?
Or a backbox like the offerings from Gravity? I recommend the Eisenmann back box.

3.0i from a 2003. I strongly do not want to sound like Barry from McDonalds car park!

I think either gutting the back box or removing the midbox is going to be my best bet.

I did a back box delete on my E85 3.0 - the sound was amazing but the drone at 2.5 to 3.5k revs was unbearable.

I ended up putting in dB reducers fitted where the exhaust cuts were made and this got rid of the drone but still sounded amazing. Could hear me from 2 streets away😂
