Hi, I'm after a passenger side b pillar airbag module (6577 - 6945157). Don't suppose anyone has one lieing around?

Failing that, does anyone have access to one of the retrospectively exchangeable modules listed in the table below?

Welcome to the forum.
I have some of the numbers that superseded yours.
I may actually have a '5157' as well.
Are you conversant with the coding required? In the last couple of weeks I've travelled to code two where the garage have stated they can easily do it, then find they can't.
If you were able to get to Norfolk I offer a supply, fit and code service.
There are others dotted about the country who do the same too.

Hi there, long time viewer of the forum.. first time poster!

I'm actually up in North West so it's a bit of a trek unfortunately. I'm pretty confident my specialist will be able to code, so just trying to get my hands on one at this point.

Please feel free to provide details of what you can offer / costs etc and I can make some decisions.

Many thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,
Before you spend your money, please ask your specialist what they use.

I've grown a bit cynical lately. Your reply is almost word for word what two others told me. Then discovered that the specialist is using very modern software and every time the VIN is entered it reverts back to the old one. Sounds daft, but these seem to need more antiquated software to get them coded. They also need the system time set.
I spent two hours in a garage with a chap yesterday who had the most modern BMW software going and no matter what he did it wouldn't work.
BMW themselves rely on downloading the files from the original module, then uploading into the replacement. Of course, if the old module is dead and won't communicate, then they are stuffed.
There is another member in Newcastle who does the same as me. [ref]Street[/ref]. Still a fair distance but easier than Norfolk.

My concern is, I send you one and later you come back and say it is duff. I have no way of knowing if it's been messed up by wrong coding attempts, so I am kind of bound to refund you. All the ones I have accumulated have been from reputable sources, who do full scans of the cars before they break them, so in theory they should be good, but I accept there could be dodgy ones amongst them. By doing all the work myself I can see straight away if there is an issue and simply grab another one from the box.
This also means if I fit two or three and the same fault codes appear then there's a good chance the fault lies elsewhere (for example, corrosion inside the connector)

Hope this makes sense?

Yes, that makes sense. So what sort of cost am I looking at to swap the module? Have you got details for the chap in Newcastle?

I've referenced him in the previous post, so he should see that.
I'll PM you too.
