Axle Size?

Looking on realOEM.com http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT33&mospid=47798&btnr=33_1148&hg=33&fg=25 shows two axle sizes:
33211229707 - LK=86MM/D=38MM

33211229591 - LK=86MM/D=31MM

I measured the "fat" (center) part of my axle and it came out to 1.510" (38.354mm), which makes me think I have the 38mm axles (thus should be stronger).

Anyone have experience with this?

The diagram seems to indicate the 31mm are for autos, which makes sense as they don't need to absorb drive shock from aggressive clutch releases.
