Awesome Televisions...

Am I right in thinking 4K is 2160p? If so, does this new technology mean that there will be an advancement on Blu-Ray shortly to match?

There will need to be - it seems to be something that keeps getting 'nearly' agreed and then collapsing

Like I said earlier... 4k media is a fair few months away maybe years before production cost decline to a sensible level... Standard HD is still an upgrade for most :(

I remember paying £200 for a 1 gig hard drive many moons ago, what's that worth now! Nothing! :)

I picked up one of the latest generation 4k Sony's last month, amazing TV!
Netflix and love film are gearing up for 4k streaming, I like this idea because it means I don't have to find space amongst the ps3/4/360/one for a 4k bluray player

What sort of bandwidth would that require to stream at 4k …

edit - found the answer, 20 mb/s.

So … no way I can get that via streaming then.

How come you can't get 20mb/s? Do you live in a crap place for interwebs?

£35,000 Samsung 85"

That's pretty much the one in my original post, so TVs are cheaper over here as it's 'only' £18.5k... It's all relative though, as the cost of living and salaries are much lower, so on a 'local' package it would feel like spending £35k+. You can live well here, but you need to be on an ex-pat salary...

As for sub-20mb broadband at Chez PVR - :o  :(

Fibre to the BT cabinet at 75 Mb/s, then copper down the lane down to 12 ...

Unfortunately, to get faster you would have to pay a massive amount of money to have the road dug up :(

+1 on the projector setup.
You can get short throw projectors than can achieve 100"+ from a couple metres away. Got one on the ceiling.
The bad thing about it is having to darken the room a little but I don't mind as I only really use mine in the evening.
