Aux Retro Fit

Hi,

Been looking at Z4's for a while having sold my TT last year. I've found a Z4 3.0si coupé 2007 which I am going to view this week and potentially purchase. I've been informed by the current owner that it doesn't have a AUX socket. I have had a look around and found lots of threads about DIY retrofits etc, but I can't seem find anywhere in the UK which sells the parts. I've seen an ashtray one on http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp and a few others. Anyone know anywhere which sells them?

Also the current owner informed me he didn't think the CD player was MP3 compatible but I've read conflicting opinions that all Z4's 2007 onwards were MP3 compatible. Anyone know for sure?

Oh - the second question ... if your head unit is black, it will be MP3 compatible. All 2006 onward models were MP3 compatible if memory serves me correctly
 
I just bought a cable from incartunes, about £20 with circuit board and postage and the service was brilliant!! Highly recommend!
 
ali4390, Do you have a link to the particular cable? I read your wanted ad in the for sale section. Any pics of your Z4 yet?

I've not got any picture with me as I stupidly left my camera at home and am working away this week. Will put some pics and details up at the weekend.

Adamski answered above, though not definitively I guess - mine is 2006, the head unit in the dash is black, and it plays MP3 CDs. Take one with you to try in the head unit when you see the car maybe ?
 
Regarding AUX retrofit: ordered a cable ending with a headphone plug recently via ebay:

White plug surroundings needed some work though, because the bit between the arrows was not supposed to be there, and no way to retrofit the black innerpart of the new plug into the black surroundings of the original plug. Doable in the end by cutting away some plastics, verry cheap for just under EUR 24 incl international delivery, still not recommended if you are after an easy retrofit... However does the job brilliantly ( including decent sound):

Picked up my Z4 last night. Super pleased with her, nice 170 mile drive home at 10pm on empty roads :) Just thought I'd add, the stereo is a business version which does play .mp3 discs :)
