AUX plug query on back of headuinit...

...so i finally got round to fitting the AUX in my ZED.
Simples - 5 min job...

BUT

On the back on the Business head unit, i have 3 connector blocks. 1 longish one with lots of wires, this is the main one for the h/u.
Then below that I have 2 smaller ones each with 3 wires going into it. I was expecting just 1 for the CD changer. So via process of elimination,
i removed one and tested the CD changer - still working. I them removed the other and the CD changer STILL worked!!

Bamboozled. I conected th AUX anyway before i left the dealers and it works 100%

But what are these 2 connector blocks for then? I thought 1 maybe for the bluetooth ?

Thanks
Jamie

bluetooth uses the same one as the AUX I believe.

the others are maybe satnav related?

How can the bluetooth socket use the same as the AUX?
I dont have sat nav!

The aux only uses two of the holes in the plug... bluetooth three...

shipkiller has posted a wiring diagram somewhere...

you dont have nav but arent the radios the same - someone correct me if Im wrong!

They are indeed bluetooth. The voice has to come from somewhere :)

SatNav would be pins 6 and 11 from memory.

OK OK - so one is for bluetooth and one is for the CD changer - but then why did the cd changer work with BOTH plugs out??? Or maybe one was left in...hummmm

worst comes to the worst you just need to merge the cables as i did.. takes about 5 mins with a tiny screwdriver / spike of some sort

Yep, easiest way is to look at the pins the wires are in on the AUX connector and then put them in the corresponding pins on the headunit. I did not do this and spent a while experimenting...not the way to go.

I can confirm one of the plugs does both SatNav and Bluetooth as it was missing altogether from mine as I had neither, so had to buy one for SatNav, only to then find I already had one on the bluetooth loom I bought but not fitted. :headbang:

i retrofitted bluetooth, cost me about £350 for the retrofit kit (bimmernav) and £180 for the module (ebay)..

Too tricky to do myself, gave it to my specialist who did it for £150 (said 5 hours on the TIS) which was ok.
