Aux in problems

I have recently installed an aux in on my partners coupe. I took it out of my roadster as I have an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth so never used or needed it. It's the one that comes fitted from factory between the ash tray and heater controls.

I've followed instructions on here to wire it into her car, but it's not showing up on the screen. I've disconnected the battery as I've read this may help....nothing.....

Does anyone have any suggestions? It's probably really simple but is doing my head in. :headbang:

She has navigation but not a cd changer if that helps.
 


I took the cables from the block on the left and put them in the same spaces in the block on the right.....
 
The block on the left is the aux I took from my car, and the block on the right is pulled from the back of her stereo.
 
only thing i can think is when you buy an aftermarket aux in cable is it comes with some resistors inline...it may well be if you have removed a factory aux in those resistors may not be there as they are in already contained somewhere else in the circuitry of the stereo
 
I just did this in my car about a week ago. looks like you have the proper connector for the z4 (be glad, i got my cable from amazon and was assured by said site it was compatible with my car... came with the e46 plug, whole different job) but it looks like your wires are in the wrong place. in that photo they're all moved one space to the right of where they should be and if you corrected it to be like the other plug, you're one space to the left of where they should be. hope that fixes your problem :driving:
