Hi guys I'm trying to fit the aux, it's a double cable red and black input! It doesn't quite slot into the slot next to my cd changer? There's a tiny black square blocking it out but seems like it's got the right amount of pins?!?! Help

well.. it's not an official Aux cable afaik...

Does the plug "fit" if you remove the main car harness plug (eg, have the headunit
unconnected from the car)?

Also, would it be possible to ring the bit in the picture that's causing the block?

Just took the black casing out and plugged in the pins and it don't work, the 2 ends don't even fit an aux cable??

I don't think this cable was meant for me? But was sent stating it fitted as aux..

its hard to tell from the picture...

does it have three wires, one on the top row, and two on the bottom.
they should form an "L" shape.

looking at the back of the stereo, with it orientated so the 10amp fuse is ABOVE the smaller pins, there should be two rows of six pins directly under the fuse.

I believe these are numbered as

01|02|03|04|05|06
07|08|09|10|11|12

when you plug in the aux cable, it should occupy pins 02,08 & 09.
Is this the case?

however, looking at the picture of the cable, it doesn't look like it has an inline resistor that is fundamental to the thing working.
If you've got access to a multimeter, can you check for connectivity between the left channel and the right channel (on the cable, whilst disconnected from the stereo)?

It's a connects2 aux cable, i had it working but I was daft and plugged it into the cd changer slot as i had mine disconnected at the time. Does it not fit in that slot at all then? Have you lifted the mechanism that holds the cable block in? I know it's a silly question but in your pick you have the connector in and the black mechanism closed. Edit - sounds like you've done this now.

After the delay in it reaching you and me being a cock and putting the wrong address on the 2 items I feel bad your having problems, if you cant get it to work let me know, I'll refund you and the cable can go in the bin, it feels like its cursed lol

No sorry not sure what a multimeter is.. What block shall I pull out? Is the 3 wires means to go in the space that's free then or the other side where cd changer is?

what id suggest is you first need to disconnect the cable block, to do this the bottom of the black plastic area has a lever pulls out you can see it better from the side of the radio, its hard to describe, i may go pull my radio out and take a pic in the morning for you. once done try plugging it into the free area, then re connect the cable block and press the lever back down to secure it.

nah we'll get there Klarky ;) no need to waste a good cable!

Leon - where about in the country are you? If you're near notts, I can pop over and help you out.

If not, I'll rip my headunit out tomorrow evening and put together a few snaps and info for yah :))

Thanks guys if you could take pics I'd appreciate that. I'm in tamworth.. Even if I did connect this in it's not a standard 3.5mm end is it?

Does this not have to occupie the cd changer slot on the left? meaning you lose the cd changer.

My 2007 Z4 had the factory fit Aux in but it didnt work until i added the resistors and capacitors to it. Its meant to only allow Aux as an option when it detects an input.

ps. You need a phono to mini jack lead...

I may have a few spare parts for this if you need them? Including the correct plug adaptor for the aux header instead of the cd changer one. PM me and I'll see if I can help.

that would be great if you have mate. is this just the white casing? and basically i will have to lose the cd changer regardless?

Replied to PM, but it's the black connector which fits in the correct aux-in location next to the cd-changer plug :D
Looks like it should be all you need, although you may have to move the pins about but that's a simple job.

Just checked cable and there are 3 lines and if pressed in they should occupy 2 8,9 now what do I take out to fit?

This may sound like a dumb question but do I need to have my iPod connected to this wire for aux to show up? I just plugged into both the cd changer bit and the other one and nothing said aux'n

It does vary but yes the Aux input will only become available when a signal is detected.

If you still dont get anything try turning the volume on the ipod up and down. If Aux input breifly shows up you may need to follow the how to guide and add the resistors and capacitors.

I think you may not get far with this cable, after reading the post it's coming back to me why I switched to a different way. Give it a try with the iPod connected and volume up. If that doesn't work put it in the cd changer slot and crazy as it sounds start a cd playing. If you finally get sound from the iPod I think that's what I did, I don't think I went any further as I ended up buying the mini kit for a neater install. As I said I think I'll be sending you some money via pay pal.
