If the length is no shorter that 370mm then it's ok
Again, not true. As long as the other criterias are met there is no rule on the actual length of the plate itself.

370mm is the minimum size plate as they only come in two sizes, if you can prove different I would like my p/plate to be shorter for my next car.

From what I read the regulations only state what it is made out of, font sizes, spacing, colour etc (as well as maker gubbins etc). Nowhere does it mention the size of the plate itself. Just because they "only come in two sizes" doesn't stop you from having a custom one made and still complying with the regulations. If you see anything that says different please post it :)

That's how mine is constructed and here's the information direct off DVLA:

Replacing your number plateWhen replacing your number plate you should make sure that the correct material has been used to manufacture the plate. It should be made from a reflective material. Front number plates must display black characters on a white background and rear number plate must display black characters on a yellow background.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is not aware of any self-adhesive number plates that meet the British Standard requirements.
Characters on a number plate can be 3D, providing they meet all the other requirements, but honeycomb or other background patterns are not allowed.
Also, the characters on a number plate need to be a standard height and width.
Your number plate should show the correct:
•character height - 79 millimetres
•character width - 50 millimetres (except the figure 1 or letter I)
•character stroke - 14 millimetres
•space between characters - 11 millimetres
•space between groups - 33 millimetres
•top, bottom and side margins - minimum 11 millimetres
•space between vertical lines - 19 millimetres

No mention of any minimum size
Def no vinyl plates

Here's one a few fall foul of though:

Motorists displaying national flags and identifiers will still be required to display the standard GB sticker when travelling in Europe.

You mean a Z4X then... Could have been intresting in fact. I wonder what the handling would have been like, but I'm assuming you're wondering in regards to off-road purposes. :P

CJ - Great photos  That stretch of road looks familiar ! Where is it exactly ?

Thanks,

Suprised as it's just one of the local lanes (Park Lane) that runs fron my vilage in Shenstone. Awesome drive as it's nice tarmac and although narrow has long sweeping bends with great distance views and mowed verges. Sometimes I get up to nearly 35 mph on it....

This longer view sets the scene, beyong which it enters a cutting where the shots are taken:

It's not in the area I thought it was. Looked a bit like the lanes around Highley.
I worked not far from Muckley Corner as well a few years ago, as well as a short time in Pipehill last year Maybe subconscioiusly recognised something....

Easy to think you recognise bits of road. Muckley corner is about 2 miles from me on the A5, so you're in the right area

Thanks for the comments

The rims are to my own custom design done in collaboration between myself and a local refurbisher. The 'stars' are smoke chrome (in effect black paint oversprayed with wet chrome then lacquered). Lips and inners are mirror polished and lacquered.

Gives very different efects based upon angle and lighting and imho perfectly suit the Sterling Grey paint
