I went along to Castle Combe on Saturday to take a look at what was going on ("Supercar Saturday") and ended up entering my first competitve event, an AutoSolo:

As you can see, it was a bit wet. Great fun though and a really friendly bunch of blokes from Bristol Motor Club running it.

Well, apart from the organisers who had done a few runs in an Evo and weren't included in the competition, I was fastest when I did my last run. By the time I left though a couple of others had beaten my time. To be honest I was just happy to have given it a try and improved on each run.

how di you find it on the car ie tyre wear, clutch wear etc

I can't say I've checked, but in the wet it shouldn't be bad at all. Speeds are always low so there's no strain on the brakes, and I was only using about 2-3k revs off the line and still getting wheelspin. In the dry I'd imagine it would be tough on rear tyres, but then the runs are very short (60-70 secs).
