Automatic versus manual transmission

I like manual because in North America a lot of people do not know how to drive manual

That means that I do not have to deal with lots of people who want to try my car.... I have to say 'no' less often due to this!

Almost a pointless debate as there is no right answer, it all depends on individual preference and use and to some extent desired resale value.

I drive 2 BMW steptronics, 1 5 speed manual and one 3 speed auto. All are near perfect for my needs.

I had a Z4 3.0iS Steptronic loaner recently - it was plenty of fun to drive and has made me seriously reconsider an auto for my next car. For a daily driver in modern traffic, a manual might just be a bit overly macho? Especially when autos are so good these days. Don't get me wrong, I love my manual of course, but driving out of London on a Friday evening, an Auto 3.0 would make alot of sense...
